Vienna Piano Studio graduate Maki Zenke wins prizes in three piano competitions

Maki Zenke

Maki Zenke, a 2005 student of the Vienna Piano Studio, has won top prizes in three national piano competitions in her native Japan. For the Romantic Music Competition she was awarded the silver medal for her performance of Schumann's ABEGG Variations, Op. 1. (No first prize was awarded.)

Ms. Zenke, 27, also received bronze medals in the Mozart Competition for her performance of the Sonata in B-flat major, K. 281, and in the Soloist Competition for Beethoven's Sonata in E major, Op. 109 and Prokofiev's Sixth Sonata.

A 2005 graduate of Vienna's Prayner Conservatory and the Vienna Piano Studio, Maki exclaims in her letter to studio director Albert Frantz, "These are all works I studied with you. Many, many thanks!"

(Comment from A. Frantz: Only Maki can take credit for her hard work -- I feel for instance that she taught me the Schumann Variations rather than the other way around!)

Maki has gone on to perform numerous solo concerts throughout Japan as a result of her prizes. Heartfelt congratulations to Maki for her hard work and outstanding musicianship!
