Piano lessons for children

Piano lessons for children

One of the most frequent questions parents ask music teachers is when their children should start music lessons. While I love teaching children and have taught children as early as four, piano lessons for children more usually begin at five or six. This strategy has numerous benefits, not the least being that at this age children have already had their first school experiences with their attendant social and instructional aspects; indeed, the first steps in structured education and social interaction are requisite components of private music instruction.

However, even earlier, rudimentary exposure to music education can only be beneficial to a child's ultimate musical development, although private lessons are in most cases not the most suitable avenue for such instruction.

In Vienna, an energetic American teacher by the name of Isabella Tabibian has successfully addressed the matter by offering piano lessons for children at the very early childhood level. Working with children as young as only 12 months, Isabella teaches piano, singing and English in an engaging classroom setting. Parents participate with their children, allowing them immediate collaboration and assistance in their child's musical education. Children learn to read music even before they read words, and what's more, they receive effective ear training through sight-singing.

If your child is younger than five and you'd like to introduce him or her to music, I'm happy to refer you to Isabella's program, called Musical Munchkins. She's absolutely dynamite with kids, and her program is destined for much success.

If your child is slightly older and ready to begin private lessons, please contact me using the below form, or call the studio at 0699 / 81 31 26 57 and we can arrange a consultation.
